Summer Session Homebrew Competition (June 25 2017)
Goal: To provide an opportunity for members to obtain unbiased, constructive and educational feedback on their homebrew in a low pressure and fun competition. To this end, BJCP certified judges will use BJCP judging forms and the judges are to be informed of the feedback expectations.
Format: Entries cannot exceed 4.5% ABV. Any beer style may be used as a base style, even if it does not normally include “session” strength beer. Prize categories: Best Label, Best Beer Name, Most Creative/Unexpected, Most Quaffable (grand prize)

Event Timeline
To be held on June 25, 2017 at Sons of Kent Brewing Co.
Public event starts at 2 pm. This is open to all members of the public and not limited to club members.
Social hour from 2-3 pm, during which time labels from all entries will be displayed and everyone in attendance votes for Best Label and Best Beer Name
Awards presented at 3 pm - Alex will be the MC and introduce the club, Colin Chrysler and other guest speakers will present the prizes.
Following awards, there will be short presentations (~15 min each) from Colin Chrysler (head brewer at Sons of Kent), Kathy Yan Li (Board Member of the AHA) and Rob Hern (Shortfinger homebrew shop owner/operator).
Event will close at around 4:15pm but attendees are welcome to stay as long as the venue is open.

Submission guidelines
- Submission deadline is June 20th (entries will be accepted any time before and including that date). The drop-off location for entries is to be confirmed.
- Any beer style listed in the BJCP style guide may be used as a base style, but entry must not exceed 4.5% ABV
- 2 standard (~355 ml) bottles are preferred, but up to 750 ml bottles will be accepted.
- Label design is up to the entrant but must be attached only by elastic band and be in good taste (without reference to any offensive material).
- An entry form must be filled out for each entry and attached to each entry with only an elastic band.
- Entry form details include specialty ingredients and recipe details. These are optional, won't be used by any commercial brewery and will only help the judges determine the source of flavours after judging
- Fee for the first entry is a voluntary donation, $5 for each subsequent entry (payable by cash to Tony Mitchell or e-transfer to alex.bullock@hotmail.com)
