Today I'm brewing an Amber Ale with some homegrown Nugget hops. Last September u picked them, dryed them and vaccuum sealed them. They've been in the freezer ever since.
Anyone have any tips for using homegrown leaf hops? I'm only using them as late addition hops because I don't know the alpha acid content.pl

I used some in my last batch and they absorbed alot of wort. They where dried to 8% but still absorbed alot!

Yeah I experienced the same thing. I worked that into the recipe and planned on about 0.25 gallons being absorbed.
Something to note for everyone else reading this.. Definitely plan on putting some kind of filter or something on your pick up tube. I literally heard a hop cone get sucked into the pick up tube and all flow stopped. I had to sanitize a spoon and unclog it before I could continue filling my fermenter.
