Hey, I know I just joined but I did some brew kettle upgrades today and I just want to post photos. I still have to polish the black burnt flux off. but here it is when I was leak testing. Attachments:

Hey Geromant, just wondering how you accomplished this. I don't know much about welding but I would love to have more welded fittings instead of the weld less ones I have today. I have considered "soldering" connections in the past but I am leery that they might not be reliable enough to use on fittings that are exposed to heat.

Agreed, I don't like my weldless gasket fittings.. not very secure.

sorry I forgot to check back on this. it's actually just a hole drilled that I pulled an aluminum die I made for lack of a better word. then it's just soldered in place with some silver bearing solder and some liquid flux (the liquid flux is key I couldn't make it work with the paste)
it's very much the same process as sweat soldering copper but the process requires a bit more cleaning and care.

also i've used this for a cream ale last weekend and there was 0 leaks it's alot nicer than the weldless I had before. as soon as my 1.5" tri clover to 1/2npt adapter arrives I can put my ball lock fitting back in place.
