It might be nice to have a thread for non-beer recipes, and I'll start with the Turtles from our last meeting. I'd would also love to see the recipe for your spent-grain bread, Julian!

Turtles
In a large, heavy saucepan mix:
1 cup whipping cream 1/2 cup milk 1/2 cup granulated sugar 1/2 cup packed brown sugar 3/4 cup corn syrup dash of salt
Bring to a boil on medium heat. Keep boiling, stirring occasionally (watch for boilovers!), until mixture reaches 244C on a candy thermometer (medium ball stage, using cold water test). Remove from heat.
Add:
2 tbsp butter 1/2 tsp vanilla 1-1/2 c. pecans (halves or pieces), or about 0.35 lbs.
Drop on a buttered cookie sheet or buttered tinfoil (don't use waxed paper), a spoonful at a time. Let cool. Melt dipping chocolate, dip turtles one at a time and place on waxed paper. For this recipe, you will need about 1/2 to 1/3 of a pound of dipping chocolate.
1x recipe makes about 30-40 turtles, depending on size.
Hints: - Don’t make more than a 4x recipe batch at a time (it’s too large to get them all dropped before cooling) - Once mixture reaches about 235C, the temperature will rise quite quickly...keep a close eye on it unless you want really hard turtles. Anything above 245C will result in firm to very hard caramel. - When dropping turtles onto cookie sheet, remember they will spread a bit before they harden. Leave room for this, or they will stick together. - If turtles are on the soft side, place cookie sheets in freezer for 10-20 minutes to harden them up for dipping. It’s also really easy to snap them apart when they’re frozen. - Use Merkens molding wafers (or equivalent) for dipping. Either light or dark chocolate can be used. Do not use regular chocolate.

Great idea, Christy.
Anytime I smoke pork, these crockpot mixed baked beans are a side dish. You can eat them any time on their own and are great. I'm always asked to bring them to pot lucks. Smoking a pork loin, brewing and drinking beer, and these in the crockpot is an almost perfect day.
4 cans baked beans 1-19 oz can red kidney beans, rinsed 1-19 oz can chick peas, rinsed 3/4 cup brown sugar 1/2 cup white vinegar 1 tsp garlic powder 1 tsp mustard powder 1 TBSP hot sauce 1 TBSP liquid smoke 4 onions, sliced into rings 1 package bacon 1/4 cup ketchup
Add all ingredients except bacon, onions, and ketchup into a crockpot. Put it on High. Fry up all the bacon until crisp. Let it cool. In the remaining bacon fat, saute the onions until very limp. Crumple the bacon and add it and the onions to the crockpot. Mix well and heat for 4 hours on High. 15 minutes before serving, mix in the ketchup.
Taste even better the next day. Freezes very well also.
