At least it is a good song. I could have called the beer "Macarena" or "Staying Alive". Try being stuck with those songs!!!

Great carbonation, good head retention, colour is a dark amber brown colour. I'm not one to know much about Rye Ales yet to know how to properly grade this one Tony. The aroma is great, can smell the hops coming through. A nice winter treat. Have you ever tried to make this one of a lesser body, I'd be curious to taste that. I'm not getting a whole lot of rye flavour compared to the one we tried of yours a fee months back at the meeting. Easy drinking beer otherwise, thanks Tony!

I really enjoyed this beer. Great head retention leaving my glass dressed up all in lace. Nice copper colour, great hop aroma. The malt had both a nice caramel sweetness balanced by the bitterness. I find the rye malt gives it a nice spicy character. Ain't no way to hide the fact that this is a good beer!

Happy Birthday Tony! I think this would be a pretty great birthday beer. The head retention was really good and it was so fine (tiny foam cells rather than coarse). Lovely malty caramel up front, then the rye "spiciness" and hop bitterness...a nice progression. Thought there was a bit of alcohol warmth in there, but just a hint. Really glad you shared this one with us!

Tony's birthday beer!!!! Upon pouring I got a nose of some citrus and pine from the hops. Nice deep reddish brown with a seriously creamy head that lasted a while. The taste was quite dry (which I like). Lingering burnt caramel notes and a light bitterness. I do like the rye "spiciness" and that came through. My only question was an undetermined flavour (not a bad one) that I can't identify but I noted it in the honey pale ale I did a that was extract. Since I taste it here it makes me wonder if it's something extract related. It's not bad just different than other hoppy ales. Thanks for sharing Tony. I enjoyed it!!

Sorry I couldn't drink this on your birthday Tony (happy belated btw)! First impression is grapefruit and resin/pine hop character with some caramel malt and what I think is the rye spiciness. Flavour follows through with some added tangerine hop character and a molasses-like grainy malt flavour. The mouthfeel was fairly full on my palate but the finish was nicely bitter.
Overall it's a very tasty malt forward ale with just enough hop character to balance. I am not very good at identifying rye so I didn't get it much, but perhaps it helped with the spicy/grainy malt character I was tasting. I think if this had a lighter body (perhaps a lower mash temp or some added dextrose) it would be almost too drinkable! Thanks for sharing!
