I thought it might be useful for members to introduce themselves on the board.
I wasn't able to make the meeting so I didn't get to meet most of the members.
Anyhow I am Shawn. I work in Chatham and live in Sarnia. I have been brewing all grain 10 gallon batches for quite a few years now. I have a 5 tap stand up keezer and a large chest freezer for fermentation. I like to dabble with things... For example I made my own temp controllers, a brewpi, and I use an old garage door opener to power my grain mill. I also grow hops at home, but I am often way too lazy to harvest them.

Welcome Shawn, too bad you couldn't make it out to the last meeting! The next meeting is on March 1st, so if it works out then we'll see you there.
If you're open to it, maybe a few of us could make the drive up during harvest season and help you pick those hops! Maybe a 10 gal group fresh hop brew? What kind of hops are you growing?

I have Fuggle, Willamette, Cascades, Goldings, and Mount Hood. However. I planted the Willamette, Cascades, Goldings, and Mount Hood plants under one large pergola and now they all grow up and intertwine themselves together. It is way too much work for me to try to separate them, and then spend the time picking the hops off the vines. Spare time is an issue for me and I would rather spend time brewing than picking hops.

Well I'd gladly drive to Sarnia and leave with buckets of hops, even if the varietal is unknown! It would make an interesting harvest ale for sure.

Hey Shawn,
Keegan here, been brewing for 9 months and managed to brew around 175 gallons so far. Definitely got addicted. Although I'm fairly handy, I'm definitely not at the point of some of you tinkerers. I'd love to learn more about DIY solutions, that have been successful and inexpensive!

Hello all. Just checking in on the board. Met most everyone last month. I'm an extract Brewer with steeped grains with an interest of moving to all grain. Biggest fear is the additional time and effort as my free time is scarce. I feel I brew some very good beer but the complexity of an all grain beer interests me. Looking forward to hearing about everyone's set up next week

Sorry I missed the post. I'll have to take a rain check on an all grain brew day.

Hello All,
Tony from Oil City here. I brewed from extract about 25 years ago and started to dabble with adjuncts....but then the kids came and that ended my free time. Kid have moved out, I've retired, and am looking at getting back into it. I'd basically be going at it from scratch as other than carboys I don't have any of my equipment left, but I am interested in learning how to do whole grains and what equipment I would need. It would be great to talk about things with someone and actually observe a brewing as I am a visual learner.
My hobby has been visiting microbreweries/brewpubs, sampling and buying beer, and getting a glass to display. I've been to 65 in Ontario, 9 in Michigan, 8 in Pennsylvania, 1 in Illinois, 1 in Quebec, 1 in Belgium, and the Guinness brewery in Ireland. I've going to visit my daughter in Ottawa this coming week and am looking at hitting 5 more along the Bracebridge to Ottawa drive.
I'd love to join in with the club if you are willing to help a quick learner who is starting at the bottom right now.

Hey Tony, welcome to the club! We'd be more than happy to answer any questions you have, feel free to post in the forums. There are a few guys who brew extract here as well.
I will likely be brewing on National Homebrew Day (either may 4 or 7) and will post details when I have them. Also feel free to come to our next meeting on May 3rd.

Hello Everyone,
I am Jason.
I have to say I am a bit disappointed that I just stumbled here, it's your meeting night, and it started 30 mins ago. Ugh... I could have been there!
I live in Blenheim, and work in Chatham. I just jumped into this hobby with both feet two weeks ago brewing a 5 gallon all grain oatmeal stout "BIAB" actually just racked it onto cherries yesterday. I also started a 5 gallon batch of mead 3 weeks ago.
This weekend I will be heating up the kettle for another brew.
Now I am on the hunt for bottles...
