The time has come to officially and democratically elect members of the club's Executive Team! There are going to be 5 official members of the Execs, including President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer and Webmeister. To avoid confusion, the responsibilities of those roles are in the post below and will be included in our Rules and Regulations.
Give some serious thought to your nomination. If you are nominated and voted into the Executive Team, it means that you accept your role and are willing to dedicate time into the successful governing and decision making for the club. I would expect the Executive Team will meet at least once a month outside of the club meetings. It would be expected that an Exec would make every effort to attend both executive and club meetings. Members of the Execs would ensure that their club decisions are made in alignment with the mission statement and rules and regulations.
Post here and let us know who you are going to nominate. At the February meeting we will all vote on the positions through an anonymous ballot system. Try to nominate someone for each position unless you agree with someone else's nomination.

All of the duties below are to provide structure to the executive team but are not set in stone. If another member of the executive team wants to perform a duty of another exec then both parties have to agree.
Section 1. President The duties of the President shall be as follows: a. To uphold the Constitution and By-Laws of the Society b. To interpret the Constitution and By-Laws of this Society when necessary. c. To set the theme and agenda for the meetings. d. To call meetings to order and conduct them in an orderly manner. e. To call for special meetings when necessary. f. To form committees when necessary g. Shall be an ex officio member of all committees. h. Shall have no vote on motions made at membership meetings and/or Board of Directors meetings, except to break a tie. Section 2. Vice-President The duties of the Vice-President shall be as follows: a. To assist the President with his duties. b. To coordinate and organize Falcons competition efforts as the head of the Competition Committee. c. To present certificates of achievement. d. To arrange guest speakers and demonstrations at membership meetings when necessary e. To arrange the club festivals f. If the President is absent from a meeting, the Vice-President shall assume the President's power for that meeting. Section 3. Secretary The duties of the Secretary shall be as follows: a. To take the minutes of Board of Directors meetings and membership meetings b. To maintain a file of all minutes c. To submit minutes to the Newsletter Editor for publication. d. To arrange tours, workshops and seminars in which the Society may participate when necessary. e. To oversee rafflesand auctions at events and membership meetings. f. If the President and Vice-President are both absent from a meeting, then the Secretary shall chair the meeting
Section 4. Treasurer The duties of the Treasurer shall be as follows: a. To administer the Society's finances. b. To collect and document monies owed to the Society. c. c. To manage the club’s Check book and arrange to have the President, Vice President and him/her self (Treasurer) to have check signing authority. d. To reimburse expenses incurred by members on behalf of the Society. e. To submit a report to the Board of Directors on a quarterly basis, or when requested by the President. f. To maintain the inventory and disperse of club gear, e.g. t-shirts, hats, glasses and more g. To maintain a current roster. h. To issue membership cards i. To organize membership drives. j. To proctor nominations and elections. Section 5. Webmeister The duties of the Public Relations Director shall be as follows: a. To promote the Maltose Falcons Home Brewing Society to the media and the public at large. b. To maintain a scrapbook of the Society's history and events, including, but not limited to, photographs. c. To assist in club publications, including, but not limited to, newsletters, posters, flyers, etc. d. To maintain a social media presence through Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. The social media posts should be focused on education on the brewing process, brewing history and beer styles. Post can also include photos of club meetings, brew sessions, competitions and events.

I also agree Alex is doing a great job in organizing this group. So I nominate Alex for President.
Vice President I nominate Stephen. You seem like an organized guy and you put alot of work into the booth at Flights and Flasks I think you would do a great job.
Secretary- I nominate Christy. You also seem organized and I believe you would be a good fit.
Treasurer- I nominate Tony. You seem like a trustworthy guy to have in charge of the accounts.
Webmeister- I nominate Keegan as he has a background in IT. I believe this would be an asset especially when we build our own webpage in the future.
On a side note: I am willing to help out and fill any gaps. With a 9 month old at home I don't get a lot of time to myself and the time I do have I spend brewing. But I am willing to help out as much as I can.

I've been considering my nominations as well, basically going with my gut for my choices!
President - Agree with Alex as nominee
Vice-president - Agree with Stephen as nominee
Secretary - Tony
Treasurer - Keegan
Webmeister - Denny
To be fair to the club, I feel I should let you know that I can't guarantee any commitments in May and June, particularly during the week (even weekends are challenging). Working in agricultural research, the number of hours and intensity of workload is very dependent on the weather and these two months are definitely the worst. There's no way to know if I'll have to work late to finish planting before it rains for a week, or if a meeting night is the only time that week I can get sprays on. I just wanted to be up-front about that.
Regardless of who is elected to our Executive, I'd really like to be involved (however I can) in helping to make the club successful.

Ok, been thinking for a while on this and while I think there are multiple members who could fill all these spots these are my picks for this year. That's the great thing about democracy, over the years we will have many different people and personalities to fill these shoes.
President - Alex- this is your baby, you're up
Vice President- Keegan- you have a lot to offer to the team Keeg
Treasurer- Tony. Just seems like a trustworthy chap
Secretary - Christy- I think you are the most observant, organised and attentive member
Webmeister- Steve, seen you posting quite a bit on IG you could probably fall right into this
I also would like to be involved in any way I can. I am starting to weed out my other activities so that I can have much more focus ( more than I already do) on my brewing.
