It's time to get thinking and brewing for the 2019 MCBA Advent Brew!
What is that you say?
Well how about a countdown to Christmas Day but with a great beer to mark each day in the lead up (and if you're like me it's a great treat in the hectic lead up to the holidays)!!! So basically instead of having a calendar with chocolate in it for the kids, it'll be beers in the fridge for you.
What do I need to do?
In a nutshell brew a beer and bottle it by the time we close the entries. Max number of bottles needed is 24 although it's rare we get that many entries. Basically if we get 10 entries you need to bring 10 bottles. If we get 15 then you need 15. Bottle size is up to you and we can ask that bottles are returned if needed.
What can I brew?
No style restrictions. Feel free to brew a simple blonde ale or an barrel aged spiced imperial stout.. the choice is yours!
When do I need to sign up by?
The entry window will close on November 25th so when all the entries are identified, we can sort them into a drinking order. I will set up threads where we talk about the beer and provide any tasting notes, comments or feedback. This is where the brewer can really describe their process for the beer.
When are the bottles of beer due?
Have the beer bottled and reasonably ready to drink by the time we do the swap. If we have less than 14 members signed up by November 25th then we will just do the swap at the December meeting on Dec 10th, however if we have more than 14 members then we'll have to meet at another time in late November/early December.
Who can join in?
Any paid member can join and brew a beer of their choice!
How many can I enter?
Basically we seem to usually have some extra room. Feel free to enter more than 1 if you would like to. Worst case scenario is the calendar starts early or continues through to New Years! We will however cut the entries off at 24 so we can say right now that the most you will need to bring is 24 bottles.
What do I need to put on it?
It's optional but may be interesting if people want to design labels for their bottles however, at a minimum the bottles must be labelled in some legible way with your name, name/style of the beer.
This post is EARLY in the hopes that we can get a great lineup together since as of current we have 2 1/2 - 3 months to brew and package.
If you are interested, just post below! If you know what you're going to brew then let us all know as well even if you are unsure of the beer/style.
Cheers!
