Club Members,
I'm excited to announce that my alerts for Facebook OBK posts has paid off and we eeked into Patrick's (the owner) brainchild "Homebrew Clubs Make Tim Hortons Birthday Cake Cereal Beer" contest!
What?
A homebrew contest with 6 clubs brewing beers. There are 5 other clubs competing: London Homebrewers Guild, True Grist (KW), Kawartha Brewers, Durham Homebrewers, BrewVIC (Victoria, BC)
How?
- We (the club) goes to OBK (Mitchell, ON) to brew.
- Beer is to be brewed on Patrick's 1BBL SS Brewtech Pro Brewhouse
\
- Beer is to be made with Tim Hortons Birthday Cake Cereal
- Recipe is up to us. We will discuss a bit at this months meeting and I will also start a thread on the forum to submit and discuss.
- All ingredients provided by OBK (whatever their stock provides) www.ontariobeerkegs.com
When?
I'm looking for input on a day that would suit the majority of the club best. I have made a Doodle (Poll) that will allow everyone to check of ALL the dates they can make themselves available. Note: Please put in all the days you can, not which you prefer. I'm hoping to get a maximum number of people involved so being less picky will help. Missing dates are already taken and even one I listed is and either Saturday or Sunday scenario so I'm waiting to find out. Please go to the following and add your name and check off all the dates that you can make it out. Additionally there is a tasting/wrap party that will be on May 16th that all the clubs are invited to!

Mitchell is about 1hr45min away so we'll need to have a plan. Off the top I can drive my van which fits 6 comfortably and 8 if we wanna use all the seats. If we have more people I will need a volunteer or two to drive. Please email me if you are offering to drive (date dependant of course). We will also need to do the same for the tasting party on May 16th.
Prizes??
Oh ya, theres a prize. For participating the clubs are each gonna get a 1BBL SS Brewtech Chronical Fermenter!!! As a result of such a huge generous gift from Patrick I'm imploring you all to see what you can do to make it for the brew and tasting party. We are (as usual) one of the smaller clubs so maximum representation will help make this all worthwhile to him and let him know how much we appreciate the opportunity and his generosity.
What will we do with it??
Good question...I'm pondering a few options but if you have ideas let me know!
What do I need you to do??
Vote on the days you're available
Think about style and recipe for our beer and be ready to help with ideas
Be excited and help me get as many members as possible to these 2 events!!!
Thanks,
Stephen
